InfoAICert: towards a european system for AI Conformity Certification
A joint initiative by the University of Genoa and Tinexta Infocert to develop a European framework for AI compliance in line with the EU AI Act.
The InfoAICert project, coordinated by the University of Genoa and Tinexta Infocert, aims to design a European platform for testing and certifying Artificial Intelligence systems. The project responds to the new requirements introduced by the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, which establishes a risk-based approach to AI regulation and mandates conformity assessments for high-risk applications.
Building on European Research Excellence
InfoAICert builds upon results from SOS_AI (Science and Engineering of Security of Artificial Intelligence), developed within the SERICS Foundation to explore methods for evaluating AI security and robustness.
Launched on 1 May 2025 and lasting five years, the project involves more than 75 researchers from the sAIfer Laboratory at the University of Genoa and Tinexta InfoCert, a European leader in digital trust services. Funded by the Italian Fund for Applied Sciences (FISA), InfoAICert aims to reach Technology Readiness Level 7, moving from academic research to a pre-commercial testing platform.
Objectives and methodology
The project will create a service platform capable of performing quantitative and objective tests to verify AI systems’ compliance with the EU AI Act. The evaluation will cover:

InfoAICert also introduces the concept of an AI Bill of Materials (AI-BoM), a standardized description of an AI system’s architecture and data. This will support automated conformity assessments and generate standardized reports and compliance scorecards.
Contributing to a trustworthy AI ecosystem
By combining scientific research, industrial expertise, and regulatory insight, InfoAICert contributes to the creation of a European certification model for AI, similar to the CE marking used for physical products.
The project supports the EU’s vision of trustworthy, human-centric AI, strengthening Europe’s leadership in the development of safe, transparent, and accountable artificial intelligence systems.
