An Italian project will lead the creation of the first European platform to verify AI systems’ compliance with the AI Act

Tinexta Infocert has secured €5.5 million in funding from the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) through the Italian Fund for Applied Sciences (FISA).

The funding, allocated for the period 2025–2028, will support the development of the first market platform capable of assessing Artificial Intelligence systems’ compliance with the new European AI Act, which will fully enter into force in August 2025.

The project, called InfoAICert, aims to provide advanced tools to ensure that AI-based solutions meet the safety, transparency, and reliability requirements set out by the European regulation. It represents a unique initiative on the international stage, as no comparable service currently exists to offer a structured and independent evaluation of AI systems’ compliance.

Scientific coordination will be led by Professor Fabio Roli, Full Professor at the Department of Informatics, Bioengineering, Robotics and Systems Engineering (DIBRIS) at the University of Genoa, who will serve as Principal Investigator. The Ligurian university will contribute through its sAIfer Lab, a research center specializing in AI security and reliability.

Through the FISA program, the MUR supports industrial research and experimental development projects characterized by a high level of originality and innovation. InfoAICert therefore represents a significant step forward in building a safer and more compliant digital ecosystem, strengthening Italy’s role as a key player in the responsible development of Artificial Intelligence.
