University of Genoa (DIBRIS Department)
Established in 2012, the Department of Informatics, Bioengineering, Robotics, and Systems Engineering (DIBRIS) conducts research and education in Computer Science, Bioengineering, Robotics, and Systems Engineering. As an inter-school department within the Polytechnic School and the School of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, DIBRIS integrates diverse scientific and technological expertise. Its mission is to advance knowledge through research, deliver high-quality education, and promote technology transfer at both national and international levels.

He is internationally recognized as a pioneer of adversarial machine learning and AI security, with over 500 publications and more than 31,000 citations. He has been elected Fellow of IEEE, IAPR, and AAIA, and has received prestigious awards such as the Pierre Devijver Award and the Pattern Recognition Medal. Prof. Roli has coordinated numerous European and national projects and supervised large research teams. His experience in both academic excellence and technology transfer ensures strong scientific leadership and innovation capacity to the project.

RELATED PROJECT
ToKAI – Toolset and Knowledge base for AI compliance
ToKAI is a strategic project (May–Nov 2025) funded by Italy’s PNRR and the European Next Generation EU programme, within the SERICS partnership. Led by Tinexta Infocert, in collaboration with Keplera, the initiative develops and tests a Proof of Concept platform to evaluate the compliance of AI systems with the EU AI Act.
The project combines legal and technical expertise to analyse existing tools, standards, and frameworks, identify regulatory gaps, and validate solutions on real AI systems. With a strong focus on the needs of SMEs, ToKAI aims to provide affordable, practical instruments to guide companies through AI certification and market access in Europe. Ultimately, the project contributes to positioning Italy as a reference player in AI compliance and trustworthy digital services.
